This Privacy Policy explains what information Fortuna ("we", "us") collects, how it is handled, and the choices you have. Fortuna is a personal finance tool designed so that your financial data stays under your control. We collect as little as possible, and we never sell it.

1 · Information we collect

We distinguish between the data you enter to run the product and the limited operational data we need to provide an account.

• Financial data you add — accounts, balances, transactions, holdings, property and planning inputs. This is stored in your own isolated database and is treated as confidential.
• Account data — the information needed to create and secure your sign-in, such as your email address.
• Technical data — minimal, security-related logs (for example, sign-in events) used to keep the service safe.

2 · How your data is stored

Each account's financial data is kept in an isolated, per-user database — it is not pooled with other users' data. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We design our systems so that routine operation does not require us to read the contents of your financial records.

3 · How we use information

We use the information above to provide and maintain the product, secure your account, respond to support requests, and meet legal obligations. We do not use your financial data for advertising, profiling, or training models.

4 · Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your data. We share information only with service providers strictly necessary to operate Fortuna, and only under contract; where required by law; or with your explicit instruction. A current list of any sub-processors is described in the Data & Security page.

5 · Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your financial database is deleted within 30 days, subject to any obligations that require us to retain limited records.

6 · Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time from within the product. You may also contact us to exercise rights available to you under applicable law. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable Australian law.

7 · Cookies

We use only the cookies necessary to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. See the Cookie Policy for detail.

Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Fortuna, operated by Fortuna. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.

1 · Eligibility & account

You must be able to form a binding contract to use Fortuna. You are responsible for the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. Keep your credentials confidential and notify us of any unauthorised use.

2 · Acceptable use

Your use of Fortuna must comply with our Acceptable Use Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate it.

3 · Not financial or tax advice

Fortuna provides tools and indicative estimates to help you organise your finances. It is not financial, investment, accounting, or tax advice, and figures shown (including projections and tax estimates) are illustrative. You are responsible for your own decisions and should consult a qualified professional where appropriate.

4 · Intellectual property

Fortuna, its software, and its branding are owned by Fortuna. Your data remains yours; you grant us only the limited rights needed to operate the service for you.

5 · Disclaimers & liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted, our liability is limited as set out in this section. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

6 · Termination

You may stop using Fortuna and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access where these Terms are breached or where required to protect the service or other users.

7 · Governing law & changes

Data & Security

This page explains, in plain terms, where your data lives and how we protect it. It supplements the Privacy Policy.

Where your data lives

Your financial records are held in an isolated, per-user database. They are not combined with other users' data, and they are not used for advertising or model training.

Encryption

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted, logged, and granted on a least-privilege basis.

Export & deletion

You can export your data from within the product at any time. Deleting your account removes your financial database within 30 days.

Sub-processors

We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers strictly necessary to run the service — currently our cloud hosting provider and our transactional-email provider. A current list is available on request at privacy@fortunapp.com.au.

Cookie Policy

Fortuna uses only the cookies needed to make the product work. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Cookies we use

• Essential — keep you signed in and maintain your session securely.
• Preferences — remember settings such as your light/dark theme choice.

What we don't use

No advertising cookies, no third-party tracking pixels, and no cross-site profiling.

Acceptable Use Policy

This policy describes what is and isn't allowed when using Fortuna. It exists to keep the service safe and reliable for everyone.

Permitted use

Use Fortuna to track and plan your own personal finances, in line with these policies and applicable law.

Prohibited activities

• Attempting to access another user's account or data.
• Probing, scanning, or testing the security of the service without authorisation.
• Reverse engineering or interfering with the service, except where permitted by law.
• Using the service for unlawful activity, or to store unlawful content.
• Automated scraping or placing unreasonable load on the service.
